Lip fillers can enhance lip shape, size, and volume, as well as address scarring on the lips.
An initial consultation determines what you would like to achieve and the amount of filler to use. The lips are cleansed and a topical anaesthetic is used to numb the skin for comfort. The doctor will then carefully inject the filler to address your specific concerns. Full treatment time (including anaesthetic) is 45 minutes.
You can return to work immediately, however it is important to avoid touching the treated lips and avoid lipstick for the remainder of the day. Some swelling may occur which is normal and will usually subside within 3-5 days.
On the day of treatment you will see fuller, more voluptuous and shapely lips. This effect will reduce slightly and the true volume increase will be apparent after 1-2 weeks. If there is swelling, this will subside within 3-5 days to reveal plump and defined lips.
Your results will last between 6-12 months, however this may be shorter at 4-6 months if it is your first time.

You should pause blood thinners, such as ibuprofen and aspirin, 5 days before treatment and avoid alcohol 24 hours before treatment.
After your treatment it is important not to touch your lips, and you should avoid strenuous exercise and kissing for 24-48 hours. Skipping heat such as saunas, and sleeping on your back are both advised for 24-48 hours also.
There are some rare risks with lip fillers. These can include vascular occlusion, infection, filler migration, and an asymmetric result. It is advised to have this procedure only with experienced and qualified medical professionals that can prescribe for you if needed, to ensure you are cared for sufficiently in a case of an adverse reaction.
