Treatment Overview
Spider veins and small varicose veins can be a source of real self-consciousness, and sclerotherapy is the gold-standard clinical solution. Using a precisely administered sclerosant injection, the targeted vein is closed off. It is then absorbed by the body, and permanently eliminated, with blood naturally rerouting through healthier vessels.

Frequently Asked Questions
Sclerotherapy can treat spider veins, varicose veins, reticular veins, and vascular malformations.
Sclerotherapy is minimally invasive and involves injecting a chemical solution into the veins to be treated. This is done using a very fine sterile needle, and the injection is administered slowly.
When the chemical solution is injected into your vein, the vein lining is irritated. This causes the vein to swell and then seal shut to stop blood flow through the vein. Over the following few months this vein slowly turns into scar tissue, which is not visible on the surface of your skin, and blood flow is rerouted.
There's almost no medical downtime, though for 48-72 hours you should avoid strenuous exercise, high heat, and sun exposure in the treated area.
Your full result will be visible after 3-4 months, and you'll see gradual improvements during this time.
Optimal results are after 2-4 sessions of sclerotherapy, depending on the vein and the individual. Your sessions should be spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Sclerotherapy is best for adults over 30 looking to get rid of spider veins, varicose veins, or reticular veins. You should be able to walk freely, as a 30 minute walk straight after treatment is necessary.

Your results will be permanent as any treated vein will not come back. But, the treatment cannot stop new veins from forming and becoming visible, similar to the old ones you have treated.
No Sclerotherapy is not painful. You may feel a pinprick as the needle enters your skin and a tingling solution as the chemical solution is injected into your vein.
Before treatment you should avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and other anti-inflammatories. For 48 hours after treatment you should avoid strenuous exercise, extreme heat such as saunas, hot baths and swimming, and direct sun exposure to the treated area.
You may experience discomfort in the treated area, redness, lumpiness, temporary skin discolouration, or bruising.
There are some risks in rare cases such as blood clotting, and this is why a 30 minute walk is recommended after treatment.
