Treatment Overview

Unwanted skin lesions such as moles, skin tags, and warts can be safely and precisely removed using PlexR technology.

The PlexR device delivers a controlled arc of plasma energy directly to the lesion. This breaks down the tissue with exceptional accuracy while leaving the surrounding skin completely undisturbed. Treatment is quick, minimally invasive, and suitable for most areas of the face and body.

Frequently Asked Questions

PlexR can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns, and it is often used to remove growths. These can include moles, skin tags, warts, seborrhoeic keratoses, and milia in any area of the body.
First you'll have numbing cream applied to the area to be treated. Then your practitioner will direct the plasma energy to the area to be treated. This causes sublimation, transforming the lesion to a gas, and your practitioner will continue until they are level with your normal skin.
PlexR works using plasma technology. This is a very powerful treatment which delivers high energy to the lesion, causing sublimation. This means that your lesion is "burned" off into a gas directly.
You'll see that the lesion immediately disappears with treatment. There is a 3 month full recovery process, and by the end you'll notice that the treated area very closely matches your normal skin.
There is a 10 day downtime where your skin in the treated area begins to crust. It's important not to touch or pick at this crust to facilitate proper healing. After 10 days the carbon crust will naturally fall off your skin, leaving a reddish pink patch. Over the next 3 months this patch will continue to heal, gradually transforming to look very similar to your normal skin tone.
You will only need one session for each skin lesion you'd like to remove. Sometimes you may experience regrowth, especially with skin tags. In this case you will need a follow-up session, but this is rare.
The treatment itself is very quick, depending on the size of your lesions. The most time consuming part of treatment is waiting for the anaesthetic effect to begin, taking 30-45 minutes.
PlexR treatment can indeed be painful. For large lesions you can opt for injectable lidocaine anaesthetic to significantly reduce the pain. Most clients describe the treatment as uncomfortable but manageable with anaesthetic.
PlexR treatment is suitable if you have unwanted moles, skin tags, warts, or even pigmentation patches.
PlexR treatment is not suitable for suspicious growths, and further investigation to rule out cancer is necessary. It's also not suitable for pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have active infections, uncontrolled diabetes, sunburn in the area, if you have taken accutane in the last 3 months, or for certain autoimmune conditions. A full consultation and assessment is necessary before treatment, to rule out any contraindications for your safety.
There is always a small risk for scarring with this kind of treatment. You can significantly minimise this risk by following your practitioners aftercare advice closely during recovery.
Some lesions are more suited to surgical procedures, however PlexR generally can be considered "safer". This is because there is less trauma to the surrounding skin, and no stitches. A consultation and assessment is recommended to identify whether a surgical approach or PlexR is better suited for you.
There are some temporary side effects to be expected. These include redness, crusting in the treated area, tenderness and itching, and swelling in some cases. Less common risks include hypo or hyperpigmentation, scarring, or infection. These risks can be significantly avoided with an experienced practitioner and following your aftercare advice strictly.
Keep the treated area clean and protected for the first 2 weeks after treatment, and always apply SPF during the day. Your practitioner may recommend products to you to improve recovery during this time also. Don't pick at the crusts that form in this time, and avoid direct sunlight, sauna's, and sunbed. After the crusts flake away you should still continue to avoid direct sunlight and sunbeds, and apply SPF daily. Hydration and moisturisation at this point is important to aid in recovery. Your aftercare advice may differ to somebody else, and so a consultation is necessary to provide you your specific advice.
